En el segundo dia, nosotros conocimos! Before leaving Atlanta, we had searched Trip Advisor to find a couple of fun things to do in Valparaiso. Beyond the typical site-seeing, we found a Chilean Cuisine cooking class that had received incredible ratings, so we thought we would give it a try. It was a GREAT choice. We started with a trip to the local market, where we shopped with our Chef, Andres, to find all of the ingredients for the four course meal that we would prepare. First was the fish stand. Local fresh fish, Reymente?, were available for 500 pesos per kilo ($1 US!). These would be used in our ceviche, combined with fresh cilantro, lemons, onions and green & red peppers. Next we moved to the fresh produce, which was even less expensive and just as fresh and delicious. As our classmate Jeff told us, you can purchase two large bags of fresh produce, enough for 2+ dinners, for less than $5. After finishing our shopping we returned to the classroom to create our dishes.
